Embroiderers’ Guild – Bolton Branch

The Rose Bowl competition at Regional Day is on the theme of Entrances -  Doorways, gateways, windows, etc. Debbie has e-mailed entry forms to you for this and also for the Aurifil competition if you wish to enter a piece of work.

Exhibitions and Events

Our workshop this Saturday at Bank Top United Reform Church is “Stitched Paper Collage” led by Marion Jazmik.  Our next meeting is on April 25^th (4^th Tuesday because of Easter) when Dionne Swift will talk about being a textile artist.  There is also an appeal from Janet - our sales table is in need of some new stock.  If you have anything suitable, please give to Janet.

The NW regional day this year is in Lancaster on April 22^nd and the National AGM  is in Edinburgh on 1 April.  Details on the EG website and in Contact magazine.

     Bolton Quilters are having an exhibition on 10^th June at St Helen’s Rd Methodist Church and have invited us to join them and display our work. Please think about what you could include in the display.  We will also need members to steward from 10am to 4pm.

     Calm during the Storm – a poignant exhibition of EG items from World Wars 1 and 2 that portrays the role of needlework, especially embroidery, as a calming influence in troubled times and links it to personal experience.  18 April – 30 June at the Central Art Gallery, Old St, Ashton-under-Lyne OL6 7SG.  Open Tues, Wed, Fri and Saturday mornings.

The Capability Brown Festival continues at Tatton Park: 25 March – 30 July, work inspired by the landscapes and gardens of Tatton.  Further details: www.events.tattonpark.org.uk.   There is also a CB festival display at Chatsworth House, Derbyshire, 1 February – 10 May.

Blackpool EG branch 35^th Anniversary exhibition at the Central Library, Queen St, Blackpool FY1 1PX from 20 – 22 April.

An exhibition of New Quilting supported by Arts Council England at the Rheged Centre, Penrith 3 March – 23 April.

Ann needs handmade cards for sending to members. Any you make and can donate, please pass them on.

Raffle prizes are always welcome.  Please see Judith.  If there are any library books you think would be suitable for us, please tell Jenny. (An ISBN would be helpful)
